I had just walked in the door from work and as I entered my house there was an unusual sound of silence in my living room. I glared over at my mom with a confusion and worry on my face. She said, “Go shower and we will speak after.” Automatically I start thinking of what I had done over the past few days that I would get in trouble over. Surprisingly, nothing came to mind. Now the carousel in my head starts spinning and with every turn comes a new thought of what it could possibly be. What did I do? Who died? Divorce? Pregnancy? Oh My! This may have been my longest but quickest shower ever. I get back to the living room and sit down like a child waiting to be scolded. My parents entered the room, knowing how protective I am of my siblings. What was about to come out of their mouth came without warning and precaution. The first words out of my mother’s mouth were, “Don’t kill him…” and I knew what was about to follow. “She’s pregnant.” At that moment I didn’t know if I should jump for joy or stranger my stranger or kiss my sister, but I knew what was to come out of this would forever bring a new light to my life.
