The ground beneath my feet was ice cold, yet when from the ignorance of what was happening. The room spun around me in the moment of sheer chaos. My heart was racing. I felt panicked in the most calming way. My adrenaline pumping through me like water would out of a busted hydrant. The voices around me all came to a silence and one persons voice kept rambling in my ear. “Ma’am, ma’am, she is in trauma one across the other side of the parking lot.” It wasn’t until that moment that I realized should listen to the voice in my ear, stepped in the midst of the road to switch out and take the wheel from my partner and drive to the ER where our daughter had been life flighted after her accident.
